Created in Italy – An Aptitude for the Impossible exhibit. – December 17th, 2021, to February 15th, 2022

The Italian touring exhibit Created in Italy – An Aptitude for the Impossible, has made its first overseas appearance at the Italian Cultural Institute San Francisco, in the new INNOV.IT – Italian Innovation and Culture Hub.

The exhibit, which focuses on the landscape of Italian industry, features some of the most outstanding examples of new Italian industrial design and technological innovation. It was conceived by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Directorate General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation) and curated by Compasso d’Oro (Industrial Design Association’s award) winners Odo Fioravanti, Giulio Iacchetti and Francesca Picchi.

The examples showcased in the exhibit offered a vivid sense of Italian ingenuity, featuring a variety of individuals and ideas that illustrate the quality and creativity of Italy’s multifaceted innovative industrial production.

Among the common features of the pieces on display are a meticulous search for perfection, a renewed inventive spirit, and a constant urge to experiment and push the limits of materials. Some of the objects exhibited showed “pure” research, aimed at creating pleasing objects “made to perfection”, which can also improve the life and the aesthetic experience of a user, responding to new technological challenges and to an increasing demand for “tailor-made”.

Accompanied by in-depth scrutiny, interviews and a website, the exhibit aims to expand this first collection of stories and to make the contents and cases displayed more accessible for the exploration of a naturally manifold, ever-changing reality.

The San Francisco’s exhibit, set up by the architect Simone Mazzetto, was made possible through the collaboration of the Italian Cultural Institute San Francisco (Director Annamaria Di Giorgio) and the Consulate General of Italy (Consul Sergio Strozzi).
